18/01/2012 - SmartestEnergy responds to Green Deal consultation
In its response to the Government’s Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation consultation which closed on Wednesday 18th January 2012, SmartestEnergy raises concerns over the independence of the assessors who will carry out energy efficiency reports on properties.
SmartestEnergy has called for safeguards to be put in place to protect consumers and smaller suppliers when the new Green Deal energy efficiency initiative is launched later this year.
24/11/2011 - £200m boost to green deal funding
On 24th November, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Danny Alexander has announced that as part of the Autumn Statement, there will be an extra £200mn funding for the Green Deal Energy Efficiency Scheme. This £200mn will provide a time limited introductory offer to encourage early uptake of the Green Deal when it becomes available next year.

DECC publish plans for Green Deal structure - 17/11/ 2011
On Thursday 17th November, DECC released five flows chart which outline potential processes to be included in the Green Deal. These flowcharts are titled: Creation of a Green Deal Palm; Green Deal Palm Cooling-off period; Post installation process; Green Del Charge Billing Process; and Termination of a Green Deal Plan.

Energy Act becomes law - 19/10/2011
The Energy Act, which sets out the legal framework for the Green Deal, as now become law. The key elements of this act will: removal upfront payments for energy efficiency measures; place consumer protection at the core of the Green Deal; offer extra finical assistance the most vulnerable homes; improve private rented accommodation.
