Ofgem consults on electricity transmission charging – 20/12/2011

Ofgem have published the ‘Electricity transmission charging: assessment of options for change’ document which outlines possible options for changes to the TNUoS charging arrangements and presents Ofgems impacts assessment. Specifically, this document is consulting on ruling out socialised charging as a transmission charging option and is in favour of improved ICRP. The deadline for responses to this consultation is 14th February 2012.

Ofgem opens consultation on Project TransmiT connection conclusions – 12/11/2011  

On 12th December, the regulator released a letter outlining conclusions on electricity connection issues under Project Transmit. This letter also includes a statutory consultation to modify the electricity transmission license to include a reporting obligation on the licensee to report to the Authority on timescales for connection and how these may vary by location, type and size of connection, to inform the Authority of any key issues affecting the delivery of a connection to an applicant, and to report on any key issues going forward.

Preliminary findings of Project TransmiT technical workshop released – 11/10/2011

The ‘Project TransmiT: Electricity Transmission Charging Significant Code Review’ was provided to Ofgem on 23/9/2011. The report outlines the discussions held within the Technical Working Group. This group was tasked to develop different methods for transmission charge changes to be used by Redpoint for economic modelling under Project TransmiT. The three models were the ‘postage stamp’, an improved Incremental Cost Related Pricing Approach and the Status Quo. A final report by the working group will be incorporated into Ofgem’s December Consultation.

Approach to charging work - 27/5/2011

Ofgem publishes a letter that sets out their approach and options for the electricity transmission charging work under Project TransmiT. It seeks views on the proposed Significant Code Review to assess changes to National Grid’s transmission charging methodology.
