retail market review
Ofgem, the regulator of the electricity and gas markets in Great Britain, launched the Retail Market Review in 2010.
As part of the review it will be looking into how effectively energy companies have implemented a series of reforms introduced following Ofgem’s Retail Market Probe in October 2008.
Those reforms included the removal of unjustified price differences, required standards of acceptable practice and improved consumer information such as annual energy statements.
company position statement
As a follow-up to the Retail Market Review, Ofgem has recently issued:
- A call for evidence on automatic rollover rules for micro-business customers;
- A consultation on whether a specific regulatory framework is required for TPIs across the domestic and nondomestic markets.
We support a Code of Practice for TPIs, full transparency of commissions and a ban on roll-overs.
