Countries including the UK are trying to build a coalition to “advance a roadmap” for the transition away from fossil fuels as the second week of COP30 got underway.

Countries including the UK are trying to build a coalition to “advance a roadmap” for the transition away from fossil fuels as the second week of COP30 got underway.

Brazil, Germany, France, Denmark, Colombia and Kenya also backing plans to secure agreement on a concrete play to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

The countries are seeking a consensus decision by the nearly 200 nations represented in Belem.

Brazil's Environment Minister Marina Silva said the roadmap would “lay the foundation for a fair and planned transition.

As well as reviewing national climate plans and looking for agreement on $1.3 trillion a year for climate finance, delegates at the Brazil summit are seeking to advance a just transition to cleaner economies.
