UK organisations are accelerating their decarbonisation plans amid concerns they will fail to meet 2030 targets.
A report found only a third of UK decision makers expect that their organisations will hit 2030 targets. Nearly two-thirds now plan to accelerate efforts in the year ahead with detailed transition plans rising sharply, according to the research by Siemens.
It also found that AI and digitalisation are seen as essential to delivering cost savings, energy security and carbon reduction
The survey also reveals that 74% of UK organisations now have fully developed roadmaps to reach targets.
Carl Ennis, CEO of Siemens UK & Ireland, said many businesses “recognise the hill to climb in front of them”.
“There is an encouragingly clear shift from ambition to delivery in the findings and there is more evidence of real intent to accelerate action, even if short-term milestones are proving harder to reach,” he said.
