GB Energy solar scheme to be extended

Military sites and more schools and hospitals are to benefit from investment in green energy thanks to a £75m expansion of a GB Energy scheme.

Military sites and more schools and hospitals are to benefit from investment in green energy thanks to a £75m expansion of a GB Energy scheme.

The Government said multiple military sites, around 50 more schools and over 70 further NHS sites will see renewable energy generation installed, on top of those benefitting from an initial £180m of funding.

In total the expanded scheme will supporting around 250 schools, over 270 NHS sites and around 15 military sites across the country.

Under a new partnership with the Ministry of Defence, technologies such as solar panels and micro-wind turbines will be deployed across a range of military sites, including remote training grounds and equipment stations.
