Government extends RO and FiT consultation

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) extended its consultation on changes to the Renewables Obligation (RO) and Feed-in Tariffs (FiT).

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) extended its consultation on changes to the Renewables Obligation (RO) and Feed-in Tariffs (FiT).

Ministers want to use the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the inflation indexation calculation instead of the Retail Price Index (RPI).

The proposed indexation change would come into effect in April 2026 and would affect all UK generators on the RO and FiT schemes.

The proposed change would reduce the annual increase in subsidies for generators, thereby reducing the cost of the two schemes for UK consumers.
