Major milestone for MHHS programme

A key milestone in the introduction of Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS) has been reached.

Elexon said the first cohort of electricity suppliers can now prepare for the start of migration of their customers’ meters from 22 October.

A number of central systems to enable half-hourly settlement have now gone live including a load shaping service which calculates energy consumption and load shapes using validated actual settlement period level data.

Elexon Chief Executive, Peter Stanley, says: “Reaching the point where all the information and data processing systems that provide the backbone for half-hourly settlement are now live is a major achievement for the sector.”

MHHS is one of the biggest changes to the electricity retail market since competition began in the late 1990s.
