System operator sets out its plans

The National Energy System Operator (NESO) has published “NESO1”, its second business plan.

NESO1 identifies six objectives including enabling smarter, cleaner markets, driving whole-system resilience and building a digitally connected energy system.

The plan, which runs from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2028, aims to deliver up to £3.2 billion in consumer value.

NESO has submitted its business plan to Ofgem for review and determination.

Ofgem is expected to issue its draft determinations in January 2026, alongside a consultation, before reaching its final determination in March 2026.
