SmartestEnergy, the UK’s leading purchaser of energy generated from the independent sector, has launched a new product to help generators sell their power as the new Electricity Market Reform (EMR) comes into force.
The SmartestEnergy Contracts for Difference (CfD) Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has been unveiled ahead of the first CfD allocation round, which will be open from 14th to 27th October 2014.
Iain Robertson, Head of Generation for SmartestEnergy, which buys power from more than 600 renewable projects across the UK, said:
“As the market leader in the independent generation sector, we have invested significant time and resources in developing a product to help generators make the most of the new CfD regime.
“Our experience of working with hundreds of renewable energy projects means the PPA is specifically aimed at meeting the needs of independent generators and funders under the new system.
The launch means we can now offer prices and structures, and have terms available to help generators bid for contracts in the first allocation round that is rapidly approaching.”
The SmartestEnergy CfD PPA sits alongside the CfD from the Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC), the body responsible for allocating, managing and settling CfD contracts with generators.
All generators opting for the SmartestEnergy PPA will have a dedicated Account Manager, along with accurate and timely settlement and support from our award-winning customer service team.
Additionally, SmartestEnergy is continuing to investigate and develop enhancements to manage the administration of the generator’s CfD difference payments with the LCCC, managing cash flows, validating readings and reconciling payments.
