SmartestEnergy announce the acquisition of Dual Energy, the Smart Meter business energy supplier

Next generation energy company, SmartestEnergy have today announced that they have acquired the Sussex-based energy supplier, Dual Energy.

Complementing their award-winning I&C electricity supply business, this deal enables SmartestEnergy to take their leading customer service to smaller businesses with Non-Half Hourly meters, laying the foundations for the transition to net-zero.

Built on an existing, longstanding relationship where SmartestEnergy have been providing wholesale market access services to Dual Energy, this acquisition is an exciting move for both parties.

Dual Energy are a competitive small business supplier with a real focus on installing smart meters to improve the quality and efficiency of business energy supply contacts. Both organisations have a strong customer ethic and recognise the role that consultants play in the energy market, so the acquisition creates value for both sides.

As an independent company, Dual Energy has delivered great results. With the backing of SmartestEnergy together we can continue to realise our growth ambition, which is good for the business and good for consumers and TPIs in the business electricity market place.

In addition to providing scale of operation, the acquisition will also enable small business customers to benefit from Carbon Trust independently certified 100% renewable electricity, as we see climate issues becoming a bigger focus for all parts of the economy.

The business will continue to operate from Worthing and customers will be unaffected by the change.

Robert Groves, CEO SmartestEnergy says “SmartestEnergy was the original asset-lite energy company building a business model around a leading customer experience. This acquisition enables us to expand our business reach as we continue to drive a smarter transition to net-zero carbon economy”.

Louise Wapshare, VP of Supply, “This is a really exciting opportunity for SmartestEnergy to support the unique business model that Dual Energy have in this difficult to reach business segment, using our strengths to accelerate their activity to disrupt the business energy market”.

Ben Giddings, Dual Energy’s CEO, “We have worked with the SmartestEnergy team since we first began trading nine years ago and have been consistently impressed with their customer-focused approach. The acquisition means we will continue to drive business smart meter adoption. SmartestEnergy’s commitment to our business is good news for our partners and customers as we scale up our plans at this exciting time”.
