SmartestEnergy shortlisted for two Energy Awards
Blog

SmartestEnergy has been shortlisted for two Energy Awards this year - Supplier of the Year and Innovation of the Year. Head of Industrial and Commercial Supply Sales, Nathan Dad explains our innovative approach which has caught the eye of the judges.

At SmartestEnergy everything we do is centred around our customers, so I’m delighted this has been recognised by the judges in our awards applications and we have been named finalists for these two categories.

Innovation of the Year

SmartestEnergy doesn’t have any generation assets, we consider our customers as our only assets, so we designed a Customer Focus Initiative and model to ensure we consistently deliver the best customer experience.

This initiative was the key focus of our application for the Innovation of the Year: Processes award. In our submission we defined our customer focus model; designed to innovate the way we manage our electricity supply business and digitise workflows for increased efficiency to enhance customer experience.

Internal workshops looked at how we work with customers - including energy consultants – and after extensive customer research, our dedicated customer experience team launched the Customer Focus Model. This model is now fully embedded within our business and forms part of our overall business strategy.

The model, backed by our internal Customer Focus Community who serve as the voice of our customers, is the fundamental framework for continued improvement and the driving force behind continued innovation for our business.

The Customer Focus Initiative was also highlighted in this year’s application for Supplier of the year.

Supplier of the Year

It is our overall approach to enabling businesses to be smarter energy consumers that makes us a worthy contender for the Supplier of the Year category.

We are helping businesses change the way they buy and consume energy and providing the products and services that enable them take advantage of an increasingly decentralised, digitised and sustainable energy system.

For example, we explained how we are promoting greater engagement with renewable energy through our 100% renewable electricity products, certified annually by the Carbon Trust, and supporting businesses partnerships with independent generators through Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).

Our nomination also highlighted how we are helping customers navigate the changing energy landscape and be part of the transition to net zero; whether it be through procuring renewable energy or providing flexibility to help balance the grid.

From bright ideas to help businesses reduce their consumption to ground-breaking renewable technologies, the shortlist for this year’s Energy Awards highlights the many exciting developments taking place across the industry.

Following our success last year, we hope to keep the 'Supplier of the Year' title. We're also proud to be recognised for our Customer Focus Initiative in the Innovation category.

We look forward to the awards ceremony on the 21st November to find out the winners and celebrate the contribution that businesses, suppliers and consultants are making to build a cleaner, smarter energy system.
