Nearly three-quarters of British customers would choose products from companies that use renewable energy over those that don’t, according to a new survey.

The poll looked at shopping habits at supermarkets, as well as food and beverages, clothing, electronics and beauty products.

Many consumers also said that they would be willing to pay more for products made using 100% renewable energy.

Jeff Whittingham, Managing Director of Ørsted Sales UK, which commissioned the survey, said: “We know that a move to green energy makes sense for the environment, but these latest statistics show that it is also good for business, making renewable energy a commercial choice as well as an ethical one.”

Logos also popular

Other finds from the poll included 60% of consumers showing a preference for logos displaying a green message.

The survey questioned 500 consumers and was conducted by Kantar Millward Brown.

The company’s next poll covers attitudes towards demand-side response and battery storage.
