Our journey to net zero

We’re a renewable energy company empowering switched-on businesses, generators and partners to get to net zero. With our reach extended to drive change at scale in the UK, US and Australia, we’ve gone from strength to strength globally. A wholly owned subsidiary of Marubeni Corporation, a Fortune Global 500 company founded in 1858, we’re a secure partner you can rely on for the long term.

Our story so far

2001

We were established as an aggregator of independent generation projects in the UK

2008

We entered the UK supply market, powering Commercial & Industrial businesses with renewable energy

2012

We were awarded UK Energy Supplier of the Year 2012

2015

We launched the UK’s first certified 100% Renewable Supply product for Commercial & Industrial businesses

2018

We were awarded UK Energy Supplier of the Year for the second time

2019

We acquired our UK SME supply business, SmartestEnergy Business, and opened our first international office in Syracuse, New York

2020

We opened a second international office in Sydney, Australia and our UK Headquarters moved to Canary Wharf

2021

We celebrated 20 years in business!

2023

We launched our new brand identity centred on our efforts to empower a renewable future across the globe.
