Overview

Reporting to the Analytics Manager in the Commercial Group, the Structuring & Origination Associate supports the valuation needs of the Origination function. The role involves assisting with time-sensitive requests, meeting deadlines, and ensuring accuracy in work. The Structuring & Origination Associate helps value mid-market and structured wholesale transactions, supports model development, assists with market analysis, and manages data. These activities support the growing Wholesale business, with a focus on learning effective risk management and contributing to gross margin goals. The commodities include power, gas, RECs, and carbon certificates. The Analytics group provides analysis, valuation, optimization, and data for the Commercial group.

In this role, you will be involved with the following:

  • Assist with transaction pricing for Originators under supervision.
  • Support the development and maintenance of models for transaction valuation, risk management, and asset optimization.
  • Work with Originators and senior team members to help design deal structures.
  • Conduct basic studies and analysis to support Commercial activity.
  • Stay informed about ISO, regulatory, and market changes with guidance from senior staff.
  • Help manage and organize large market data sets.
  • Effectively manage time and prioritize assigned tasks.

To be successful in this role, you are likely to have the following skills/experience:

  • 2–3 years in the U.S. electricity and natural gas industry or a related quantitative analyst, structurer, or risk analyst role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantitative Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Basic understanding of mathematical finance concepts and numerical methods.
  • Proficient in MS Excel.
  • Some experience with programming in R (preferred), Python, or a similar language.
  • Familiarity with databases and SQL is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills; able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn, take direction, and seek feedback.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with team members and stakeholders.

NOTE: This role will require in-office working at least 2 days per week from NYC. This role is not able to support visa sponsorship.
