The 15-year CfD PPA supports greentech’s first UK renewable asset and establishes a long-term route to market partnership

LONDON, 22 July 2026SmartestEnergy, the renewables-focused energy company helping Britain’s independent generators and businesses navigate the energy transition, has signed a 15-year pre-construction Contract for Difference (CfD) Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with greentech, a European solar and storage specialist, for its Chalkpit Solar Farm in Kent.

Located on 25 hectares in the village of Guston in Kent, Chalkpit Solar Farm will be greentech’s first own developed operational asset in the UK. The agreement covers both the pre-commissioning and post-commissioning phases of the 26MW solar PV project, providing revenue certainty throughout its lifecycle. Once operational, the project is expected to generate around 30GWh of renewable electricity annually.

The contract was awarded to SmartestEnergy following a competitive tender process. SmartestEnergy’s strong commercial offering, established market expertise and collaborative approach set it apart from competitors, with the team being seen as the most suitable partner to support greentech’s first UK renewable energy project realisation.

This project marks the beginning of a broader relationship between the two companies. Having established a long-term route to market agreement for Chalkpit, both organisations see the partnership as a foundation for future collaboration as greentech explores further opportunities in the UK energy market.

The project highlights the continued attractiveness of the UK renewable energy market to international investors and developers. With ambitious clean power targets and support mechanisms such as the CfD scheme, the UK continues to provide opportunities for investment in new renewable generation capacity.

James Clark, Business Development Manager, SmartestEnergy, said: “We’re proud to be supporting greentech on its first own developed PV project in the UK through the Chalkpit Solar Farm. Projects like Chalkpit demonstrate the strength and attractiveness of the UK’s renewable energy market, and highlight the important role offtakers play in helping developers bring renewable generation to the market. Our partnership with greentech reflects our ability to structure flexible, long-term solutions that support developers at every stage of a project’s lifecycle. We look forward to building on this relationship as greentech continues to grow its portfolio.”

Yaw Ofori, Managing Director UK at greentech, said: “The Chalkpit Solar Farm is an important milestone for greentech as it marks the starting point for our long-term investment strategy in the UK, which we see as a significant energy market to have a stake in, and contributing to the decarbonisation of the UK grid. Selecting the right route to market partner was a critical decision. SmartestEnergy stood out through the team’s professionalism and reliability, commercial offering and deep market expertise, giving us the confidence that they would be the partner to support us in the long-term. With a 15-year agreement now in place, we’ve established a strong foundation that we hope to build on as we bring further UK renewable energy projects forward in the coming years.”

The partnership supports SmartestEnergy’s continued growth as a leading route to market provider for independent renewable generators, while helping accelerate investment in new renewable energy capacity across the UK.

As greentech continues to develop additional CfD-backed renewable projects, both companies look forward to exploring further opportunities to work together in support of the UK’s clean energy ambitions.
