AR8 CfD timeline set out

An indicative timeline for the upcoming Allocation Round 8 (AR8) Contracts for Difference auction has been published by the Government.

Key details around pot structures, pricing and tender rules are expected to be announced on 6 July ahead of an application window opening on 20 July and ending on 7 August.

Results will be announced between 27 November and 17 February, depending on whether the auction process has run to its shortest or longest timescale.

The Government has accelerated the process for AR8 as part of its measures to go “further and faster” in the pursuit of national energy security.

A report from Offshore Energies UK recently said the Government should aim to award up to 7GW of offshore wind in AR8 to keep the country on track for its clean energy targets.
