Energy innovation projects have secured a total of almost £23m to take their bright ideas forward.
The latest round of Ofgem’s Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF), delivered in partnership with Innovate UK, has seen 18 projects secure backing.
They include a NESO-backed project to map emerging quantum-related cyber risks to energy assets and a scheme led by UK Power Networks for local energy balancing.
Marzia Zafar, Deputy Director for Digitalisation and Innovation at Ofgem, said: “This latest SIF investment marks an important step in accelerating the pace of innovation needed to transform our energy system.”
The SIF was introduced as a part of the RIIO-2 price control by Ofgem to support network innovations that contribute to reaching net zero while delivering benefits to network consumers.
