Business leaders in Scotland have urged the nation’s politicians to prioritise domestic energy production ahead of elections this week.
Dozens of business organisations have signed Scottish Renewables’ Energy Pledge which aims to show candidates in the Scottish Parliament election broad support for a future-focused energy policy.
Claire Mack, Chief Executive of Scottish Renewables, said there was clear ambition from Scotland’s business community to help deliver an affordable, secure and resilient energy system.
“That will require accelerating the build-out of renewable energy and grid infrastructure, alongside reforms to transmission charges that better support investment in Scotland,” she said.
“With the right policy and regulatory support, we can unlock the value of our future pipeline and operational assets for consumers and the wider economy in the years ahead.”
The pledge calls for an approach “rooted in domestic energy, advanced manufacturing and regional regeneration”.
