Ofgem launches call for input on TPIs
Ofgem has launched a call for input on the third party intermediary (TPI) sector.
Ofgem has launched a call for input on the third party intermediary (TPI) sector.
The move follows the Government recently setting out its intention to appoint Ofgem to regulate TPIs, including energy brokers, price comparison websites, bill splitters or auto-switching sites, in the retail energy sector.
The review of the sector includes TPIs acting for both domestic and non-domestic customers.
Ofgem said the aim of the call for input is to assess the TPI sector structure and competition, examine potential distortions in behaviour and incentives and explore how outcomes vary across different types of consumers.
It is seeking views from TPIs, energy suppliers, trade bodies and consumer groups with responses needed by 16 July.
