A surge in UK solar installations has been seen following the outbreak of the war in Iran.
Government figures show solar capacity has now increased by 11.7% over the past year, adding 2.3 GW of clean electricity to Britain’s energy mix.
Last month saw the highest monthly installation of solar in over a decade with more than 2 million solar installations are now powering homes across Britain.
The Government said the record growth comes as it steps up investment in solar power, including the recent consent of Springwell Solar Farm, the largest power-producing solar farm in UK history.
Energy Secretary Ed Miliband said: “This is our clean energy mission in action - helping families weather global energy shocks, bringing bills down, and getting Britain off the fossil fuel rollercoaster.”
