Action urged to unlock heat pump potential for businesses

The Government has been urged to deliver a national plan to unlock the potential of heat pumps in businesses and commercial properties.

Although heat pump sales continue to grow in the UK, the vast majority of these are installed in domestic properties despite the non-domestic market representing a significant share of the UK’s heat demand.

The Heat Pump Association UK is urging an acceleration in the deployment of heat pumps in non-domestic settings in the UK.

It calls on the government to publish a national plan for the electrification of non-domestic heat and work to reduce the high cost of electricity relative to fossil fuels for non-domestic energy users to improve UK competitiveness.

The association said clear direction, aligned incentives, and sustained practical support was needed to give businesses the confidence to invest, innovate, and scale.
