A new hourly metering data platform is on track to launch this Autumn after getting the green light from the government.
The smart data repository being developed by Elexon will make half-hourly electricity consumption data openly available to help businesses create new services that benefit consumers and support decarbonisation.
The repository is one of several digital platforms being developed by Elexon, the National Energy System Operator and the Retail Energy Code Company over the next two years to support a more flexible electricity market.
Elexon Chief Executive Peter Stanley said: “Making half-hourly electricity consumption data widely available is essential to enabling businesses to develop new products and services, drive innovation and help consumers interact more effectively with a decarbonised energy system.”
