Whether he’s planning the next day’s outreach, helping a broker navigate a complex deal, or sneaking in a round of golf with his son, Kris thrives on momentum.

With nearly two decades in the energy industry, Kris brings deep experience and genuine enthusiasm to every partnership he manages. His journey began thanks to a college roommate who introduced him to the supplier world, a chance conversation that became the start of an 18-year career built on relationships, reliability, and relentless drive.

Building Partnerships that Last

For Kris, trust and collaboration are the foundations of every strong partnership.

“It all starts by being an active listener,” he explains. “I want my partners to know they can come to me for anything, whether that’s advice, support, or just to talk through an opportunity. From there, we work together to create a plan to help them reach their goals.”

He believes that sales isn’t a typical nine to five job. “There’s no off button,” he says. “You’re always in sales mode, thinking ahead, connecting the dots, and finding ways to make an impact.” That proactive mindset drives his success in developing new partnerships and nurturing long-term relationships that go beyond the transaction.

Kris sees SmartestEnergy’s global presence, financial backing from Marubeni, and broker-centric approach as key differentiators in the market.

“I tell my partners that the same broker who services a deal in month one will still be there at month sixty when it’s up for renewal,” he says. “That consistency, backed by the strength of Marubeni, gives brokers confidence that we’ll be here to support them every step of the way.”

Equally important is the culture of support within SmartestEnergy. Kris credits the company’s pod structure and team collaboration for enabling him to deliver exceptional service. “Even with a chaotic day, it’s nice knowing there’s a full support system behind me, customer service, operations, and other teammates who all step up to help.”

Always Learning, Always Growing

When asked what advice he’d give someone new to the industry, Kris doesn’t hesitate:

“Never stop learning. The market, pricing, and regulations are always changing, it keeps you on your toes.”

That same curiosity drives his own development, both professionally and personally. He describes himself as driven, curious, and fun, a mix that fuels his success and helps keep things light within the team. “Keeping it light-hearted is important,” he adds with a grin. “You’ve got to enjoy what you do.”

Beyond the Office

Outside of work, Kris enjoys spending time with his family and has recently gotten back into golf, a hobby that now doubles as bonding time with his son. When he’s not on the course or connecting with partners, he’s planning family trips and finding new places to explore.

For Kris, balance and passion go hand in hand: “You celebrate your partners’ successes and help them when they need assistance. It’s the same approach I take in life.”
