New standard launched for corporate climate action

A new standard has been launched to help businesses accelerate their corporate climate action.

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) new net zero standard aims to embed science-based targets into core decision-making in businesses.

The organisation said it introduces a range of target-setting options that reflect differing business contexts.

It said a greater focus on implementation recognises that setting targets is the “start not the end of the net-zero journey” with enhanced transparency about reporting progress and continuous improvement over time.

More than 11,000 companies have so far set science-based emissions reduction targets.
