Sourcing 100% renewable power at a marginal cost increment can be justified to do the right thing and it links to our strategy of reducing embodied carbon in our products."
We’re committed to being the sustainability leader in the real estate industry and chose to work with SmartestEnergy because they have the renewables expertise to support this ambition. The agreement we’ve developed with them enables our clients to enjoy the advantages of 100% renewable electricity and gives us transparency over the sources of our energy.”
"Flexible purchasing offered by SmartestEnergy has saved the group hundreds of thousands of pounds in comparison with their previous fixed price contract. The main benefit of purchasing 100% renewable electricity is reputational - it helps the university meet its sustainability target and sends a strong statement to students and staff."
"SmartestEnergy really stood out as not only having a brilliant renewable energy product at a competitive price but also a proactive, adaptable and cost-effective management process.”
The Smarter Network Storage project developed by UK Power Networks is trialling the role that storage can play in enabling a low-carbon, decentralised power system and in reducing costs by matching supply more closely with demand.
The £18.7m project, supported by Ofgem’s Low Carbon Networks Fund, is based around a 6MW battery at Leighton Buzzard which is one of the largest of its kind in Europe.
