SmartestEnergy Business appointed as Supplier of Last Resort (SoLR) for MA Energy Limited customers
Company news

SmartestEnergy Business Limited has been appointed by Ofgem to take on the non-domestic customers of MA Energy Limited following the announcement that it ceased trading last week.

In what continues to be a challenging time for the UK energy industry, MA Energy became the latest in a line of suppliers to cease trading amid the soaring gas prices. As a result, SmartestEnergy Business has today announced the acquisition of approximately 1,000 business supply points with a combined usage of 116 GWh from MA Energy, through a successful bid made with Ofgem in the SoLR process. The official announcement from Ofgem can be read here.

“Our number one priority right now is to maintain a reliable service for these customers. As a supplier that is well-backed and financially stable, we have a good foothold to pick up the service baton and provide these customers with the reassurance that their energy supply will continue as normal”, said Richard Bartlett, VP Sales & Marketing, SmartestEnergy Business Limited. He added “We will further support these customers by ensuring they have access to our range of competitive energy products, to help them control their costs and protect against any future wholesale price volatility”.

SmartestEnergy Business is part of the SmartestEnergy Ltd, a leading purchaser of independent renewable energy, owned by the Marubeni Corporation. With over 20 years experience in the energy market it remains in a strong position, despite the recent market uncertainty.

Business customers of MA Energy can expect to be contacted by SmartestEnergy Business in the next few days with all the information they need to know at this stage. There is also a dedicated webpage set up to answer any questions they have about the SoLR switching process. We will update the webpage regularly so if you are a MA Energy customer, please keep checking back for the latest information.
